“Those who cannot remember the past…”

“Those who cannot remember the past, are condemned to repeat it.”

George Santayana

Winston Churchill – you know, the bust of whom, Prime Minister Tony Blair gave to President Bush after 9/11;  and President Obama gave back to the Brits after he inherited to office – hmm… kind of strange, but I digress – that Winston Churchill knew this historical lesson in the 1930’s. He tried to warn his countrymen, to no avail. The result – 70 million plus dead. That’s right – 70 million slaughtered because the political leaders of the day refused to stop Hitler and Hirohito. Like today’s leaders, they issued strongly worded statements and that we were to blame for the dictator’s evil – and preached “tolerance.” We still have a little more time to stop today’s despots, but will we? If not, I’m assuming 70 million dead would be looked upon as a welcome minimum.

This 13 minute video is a cogent history lesson: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qg_iDPRud_c&feature=player_embedded
